Derek Hennessey – Coach Profile

Hennessey is excited and humbled to coach the PMHC U11 Peterborough AAA Petes for the 2025-26 hockey season. As a former player in the PMHC, he has been coached by Paul Crowley, Doug Gibson, Jim Johnston and Dave Carey. He plans to continue providing the same great experience to this group of 2015 hockey players.
Having played AAA hockey for eight years (Minor Novice to Major Bantam), Hennessey is familiar with the organization's expectations and his playing experience is a helpful asset for player development.
Following AAA hockey in Peterborough, he played five years of Junior Hockey with the Peterborough Bees (OJHL), Guelph Storm (OHL), Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL) and the Lindsay Muskies (OJHL). After junior hockey, Hennessey attended the University of Prince Edward Island to play hockey and complete his degree, which enabled him to become a teacher, for which he is currently employed.
