Colin Sharpe To Take Reigns As Head Coach of The U18 ‘AAA” Petes.
The Peterborough Minor Hockey Council (PMHC) is pleased to announce that Colin Sharpe will be taking over as head coach of the U18 “AAA” Petes team. Previous head coach Nate Oke was recently named as an assistant coach of the OHL Peterborough Petes. Nate Oke will continue to be involved and support the U !8 “AAA” Petes as his schedule permits.
Colin Sharpe played all-star hockey for 11 years in Peterborough both with the "AAA" minor Petes and the "AA" Peterborough Nationals and at the Lakefield College School. Colin managed to be an honour roll student his whole academic life and is a past recipient of the Roger Neilson/Toronto Maple Leaf Scholarship Award. Last season Colin played professional hockey in Sweden. Colin joins Petes U18 assistant coaches Clair Cornish and Ian Armstrong.
Clair Cornish has been involved in hockey his entire life as a player, coach, and scout. As a player, Clair was a member of the 1990 Memorial Cup Championship team the Oshawa Generals. After his playing career, Clair focused on coaching and player development, spending 5 years as Coach of the Port Perry Mojacks Junior Hockey Club and was an assistant coach with the Central Ontario Wolves “AAA” U18 Hockey Club. Clair has been a member of the scouting staff of the Guelph Storm in the OHL and presently works with the OHL Peterborough Petes in Prospect Development and Analytics.
Ian Armstrong has coached minor hockey in the Petes “AAA” system and art Lakefield College School. He played three seasons with the OHL Peterborough Petes from 1982-85 before playing five seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Hershey Bears. In 2021 Ian was named Academic Support and U15 Scout with the OHL Petes. He assists the scouting department for the annual OHL Priority Selection and supports players with their academic studies throughout the season.
