Special Thanks to Steve Richey’s Memorial Golf Tournament
Peterborough Minor Hockey Council “AAA” Petes are grateful for the generous support of the Richey family and friends. A memorial golf tournament was held at Baxter Creek on July 6, 2019. The tournament was held to support the Steve Richey Tournament of Champions, which is held in Peterborough every January. Steve grew up in Peterborough with a love for sports, but continued to give back once his playing days were over. He was more than a coach and scout in our community, he was a mentor for many and a person who truly cared about the people he met. Steve passed away at the age of 54. He will truly be missed in the sporting community of Peterborough.
The golf tournament was organized by Carmen Rudler and supported by friends and family. Carmen and Steve’s wife, Lori presented the PMHC with a cheque worth $12,900 from proceeds of Steve Richey Memorial Golf Tournament. The golf tournament served as more than just a fundraiser, it was a day filled with laughs and stories in memory of Steve. It was an opportunity for the PMHC to witness how special of a person Steve really was. He will greatly me missed by many, but his memory will live on through the game he loved.
Thanks to all those who participated and supported the Memorial Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the Memorial Golf Tournament and generous donations from family and friends will be used for the annual bursary that will be awarded to one deserving participant at the Steve Richey Tournament of Champions and to help assure the sustainability of the tournament in memory of Steve.
