Minor Petes Alumni, Riley Stillman Drafted by the Florida Panthers
June 17, 2016 7:48 p.m., Congratulations to Minor Petes alumni Riley Stillman who was drafted in the fourth-round, 114th overall by the NHL Florida Panthers.
“There are no words to describe it,” Riley said, several hours after his selection. Riley, a six-foot-one, 185-pound defenceman, played his minor hockey in St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Florida and with the Peterborough Minor Petes "AAA" Zone before being drafted by the OHL Oshawa Generals.
Riley lived in the Coral Springs area of Florida that is home to the Panthers when his father Cory, also a Minor Petes alumni, played there. “It was special to go to a place where my dad played.”
Cory is currently a development coach for Carolina Hurricanes prospects also works with the Minor Petes "AAA" development group.
Riley will return to Oshawa next season but not before getting a taste of the Panthers way of doing things at their rookie development camp July 10-15 in Florida.
