Hockey Swap for H.O.P.E.
Submitted By gwhite on Friday, April 10, 2015
HOPE  has joined with the Peterborough Minor Hockey Association and some surrounding centres to achieve great things for our young hockey players in the surrounding area of Peterborough!  Members of HOPE all who reside in Peterborough have benefitted greatly from the game of hockey and we are inspired to find ways to give back.  It is our mission to provide kids opportunities to demonstrate qualities such as self-confidence, work ethic, self-esteem, and discipline needed to compete in athletics and in life. In today’s society and the rising childhood obesity epidemic, we believe the promotion of health through activity is a necessity to all children. Activity is the hallmark of a healthier lifestyle benefiting children at any level.

HOPE  (Helping Others Participate Equally) is a non-profit organization that looks to provide support to those in need around our community.  Children benefit emotionally if they are able to maintain active involvement in organized sports.  Hockey costs have increased significantly in recent years and families often find it difficult to devote their time and finances to athletic programs.

Together, it is our mission to assure that there is no child left behind in this sports movement. The prices to compete have increased and that includes specialized training that many kids are now taking part in, the costs of being a part of the teams, and equipment. Together we will make the difference for all children to enjoy the normal childhood experiences, such as participating in sports regardless of their financial situations….to ensure all children have equal opportunity in athletics.

We will be hosting “Hockey Swap for HOPE”. On Saturday August 15th, , 2015,  All equipment will be sold at discounted prices and all proceeds will be directed to the participating minor hockey centers.  Be a part of our cause and make a difference for the kids in Peterborough!!  For more info visit www.give4hope.ca
