When it comes to the word volunteer, it is hard to top
Mac Allan.

The 75-year-old has been retired as an accountant for
the past 14 years but you would hardly know it.

He has been as active as ever, volunteering his services
in the financial field for the PMHC the last six years. He
was rewarded with the President’s Award for his volunteer
work at the Minor Petes banquet at the Kinsmen Civic Centre
on Wednesday night.

“I have always been involved in minor hockey and try to
help to keep costs under control,’’ said Allan, whose
son-in-law Vance Robbins is treasurer and grandson
Cole Robbins was a defenceman on the minor midget Petes.
“I like to do it.’’

Vance Robbins said much of what Allan did was internal,
handling such things as financial and year-end statements.

“He has so much experience and expertise,’’ he said.
“What he does as a volunteer is amazing and it was great
to see him get this award.’’

PMHC president Walter DiClemente presented Allan with
the award.

“It shows the type of people we have in our organization,’’
he said. “It meant a lot to us for a man with background
to step and volunteer to do it.’’
