MAJOR MIDGET AAA PETES WIN TITLE AT PRESCOTT TOURNEY
The Peterborough Major AAA Midget Petes won the Dr. Peter division of the Prescott Midget Showcase Tournament.
In the game one against versus the Upper Canada Cyclones, the Petes lost 3-2 after a scoreless OT and then 10 rounds of shooters in a shootout.
The Petes then went on to defeat the Guelph Gryphons 5-1, the Halton Hills Hurricanes 8-1 and in the finals they defeated Ontario Hockey Academy 5-2.
Scoring were Brock Traill with five, Ben Sokay with four, Carter Turney, Zac Treen, Andrew Gurr and Jayd Killingbeck each with two and Kevin Smith and Elijah Cannon.
Assists went to Turney with six, Treen with four, Sokay, Smith, Regan Kennedy and Braeden Kublick each with three, Traill with two, and singles to Gurr, Killingbeck, Cannon, Cam McGill, Scott Hibbert, Liam Hunter and Greg McLean.
Both Aaron Esposito and Alec Brown played strong throughout the tournament.
A skills competition was part of the tournament with representatives from each of the 16 teams competing. Sokay won the fastest skater event and Esposito was the shootout goalie winner. Killingbeck came second in the hardest shot event.
