The Peterborough Minor Hockey Council is pleased to announce the 10th Annual Midget Tournament of Champions, to be held in Peterborough January 15th, 16th and 17th, 2016.

Peterborough - The Peterborough Minor Hockey Council is pleased to announce the 10th Annual Midget Tournament of Champions, to be held in Peterborough January 15th, 16th and 17th, 2016.

“Peterborough will host some of the top OHL prospects and teams this weekend”, said David Beckett, President of the PMHC.  “Over the past 4 years alone, more than 200 players that have participated in this tournament were drafted to the OHL.  Many others have accepted scholarships to NCAA schools.  Many of the top OHL prospects will participate again this year”, Beckett said.  He noted that teams in the OHL Cup rankings, and top minor midget teams, will be competing here this year.   

The tournament will feature 18 Minor Midget and 20 Major Midget teams, and will be played at the Evinrude, Kinsmen, Memorial Centre and Norwood arenas.  The schedule is posted on the PMHC website, www.minorpetes.ca.  “I am thrilled to have such remarkable hockey talent come to Peterborough to show their skills every year.  The Midget Tournament of Champions has become a “must attend” tournament for teams across Ontario and the United States”, Beckett said.  “This tournament is also very proud to have the generous support of Cathcart Farms and Paul Tinny Auto”.

There is a special community event, Minor Hockey Night in Peterborough on Friday , January 15/16. It features 3  games along with draw prizes for youth under 18 and a grand prize of 1 week at Canadian Hockey Enterprises Hockey School .

                     6:30 p.m. Opening Ceremonies

                     6:45  p.m. Peterborough Minor Midget Petes  vs. Detroit Compuware

                     8:30 p.m. Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs   vs.  Detroit Honeybaked

Detroit Compuware and  Detroit Honeybaked  play in the Michigan High Performance League and are the highly ranked U.S. teams by MyHockeyRankings.com".  The Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs are in 1st place in the O.M.H.A. - SCTA Division and ranked 4th over-all by " My Hockey Rankings".
