Minor Peewee AAA Petes win Eastern Ontario championship
The Peterborough Minor Peewee AAA Petes defeated the Markham Waxers 3-2 in Markham to win the Eastern Ontario Triple A Championships in Markham Sunday.

The Peterborough Minor Peewee AAA Petes defeated the Markham Waxers 3-2 in Markham to win the Eastern Ontario Triple A Championships in Markham Sunday.

Markham’s Michael Buchinger scored the first goal giving Markham a 1-0 advantage in the first period. Pete’s right winger Cole Lester took a slap shot to even the score assisted by centre Cole Pottle at 10.02 in the second period.

Ryan Bell, left winger for the Petes scored at 2:14 in the second period assisted by defenseman Will Corcoran to take the lead.

Deandres Dejesus from the Markham Waxers score early in the third period to tie up the game.

With eight minutes left in the game, Petes' left winger Nate Bassett scored assisted by Defenseman Liam Kenny to again take the lead.

The Petes ended the game with a 3-2 win to take the championship series.

Chase DeNoble played a strong game in net.

“I am proud of the boys for their effort and determination,” said Dave Stewart, Head Coach.

“What a fantastic way to end the season. The team has continued to improve throughout the year and through hard work and dedication, they have finished off the season as the Eastern Ontario Minor Peewee AAA Champions.”
