Peewee AAA Petes Take Silver in 2002 AAA Rochester Invitational!
The Billysmithsells AAA Peewee Petes played valiantly Sunday morning in the Championship Game of the Rochester Jr. Americans tournament. Unfortunately, they fell just short, they lost 3 -2 to the hometown Rochester Monarchs in a shootout. The Petes got off to a quick start, with Ryan Ward scoring on a penalty shot early in the first period. Then, the Petes went up 2 - 0 on a goal by Evan Downer, assisted by Sam Curtis and Ryan Ward. The Monarchs fought back to tie the game mid way through the third. A 5-minute sudden death overtime, which included a penalty shot for the Petes, solved nothing. The Monarchs won it in the shootout, scoring 1 goal, while the Petes could not solve the Rochester goalie. Both goalies were properly awarded "Player of the Game". The Petes return to regular season action Tuesday night, when they take to the road to play the Oshawa Jr. Generals in ETA action.
