> 2017/18 #DrainBros Minor Bantam Petes gain 8 of 10 pts in the last 5 games
The Minor Bantam Petes are overcoming
adversity rolling into the later part of the first half of the season.
Having lost 2 key players to injury, the remainder of the team continue
to lace up, compete and try hard to put "W's" on the scoreboard.
Nov. 16 at home, we were up against a strong Whitby team who have shut us out in the last two meetings. The team headed into this one with determination. Falling behind quickly in the first they didn't stop and through hard work, ended the game with a huge 4-2 win. Goals by Carter DeButte and DJ Clark with assists to Jackson Stewart and DeButte and 2 unassisted goals went to Jack Carey and Cole Pottle. Strong game in net by Nate Cannons.
Nov. 18 playing in the York-Simcoe home arena at St. Andrew's College we brought AP Michael Carter from the Petes Minor Bantam AA team to cover the short bench. Out-playing and out-shooting a very defensive minded team for more than 2 periods has a lot of positives to build on but not capitalizing on scoring chances found us behind 2-0 early in the 3rd. A late goal ended our chances and the team played well against one that does not let up many goals. Chase DeNoble played an excellent game.
Nov. 19 we headed over to Markham to play the Waxers for the 2nd meeting of the season. Being shut out against the Express, the players looked to put pucks in the net by doing the simple things well. Boosting our man power with AP's M. Carter and M. Collyer, shots on net with hard work down low got the Petes back on the scoreboard and net another 2 before the final buzzer sounded in a 3-2 win. Goals from Parker Burgess, Briar Hislop and Jackson Stewart assists by DeButte, Clark and our AP Carter.
Game #17 was an early weekday game on home ice against Division rivals, the Central Ontario Wolves. Coming off 2 wins in 3 games, the team seemed to dig deep and come out strong and confident. Going back into the development system to bring out Cole Lester and Dawson Cook from the MB AA team to lace up. The #DrainBros Petes team left with another 2 points and a 5-1 victory. Goals from Pottle, Nick Roode, DeButte, Clark and AP D. Cook. The assists went to Burgess, Ty Harris, Nate Bassett and Roode.
Next up was Saturday Nov. 25th at the Evinrude Centre against the Oshawa Generals. The team had to dig deep again and came out on top with a 2-1 W. Nate Cannons with a strong game in net and goals from B. Hislop and J. Stewart. Assists went to: Doucet, Roode, White and Hislop.
Thats a wrap for a few days while the team rests up and gets ready to face the North Central Predators on Saturday Dec. 2nd @ 8:00pm at the Peterborough Memorial Center.
