Major Peewee AAA Petes were
defeated 4-3 in sudden death overtime by the Clarington Toros in game three of
the second round of the ETA playoffs tonight, March 16, 2017, at the Evinrude Centre.
Jack Carey scored in the first period to give the Petes a 1-0 lead but Clarington came back with a goal to end the first period in a 1-1 tie.
Nick Roode scored midway in the second period assisted by Jack Carey to put the Petes ahead 2-1. With 52 seconds left in the second period, Cole Lester scored on a pass from Nate Bassett giving the Petes a 3-1 lead.
Clarington came out hard in the third period scoring two goals to tie the game and force a sudden death 10 minute overtime period. In the end, the Clarington Toros proved too strong for the Petes and scored in overtime to win the game 4-3.
The Petes will go up against the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs at the Kinsmen Arena on Saturday, March18, 2017, at 4:00 pm in the final game of this playoff series.
